Product Description

Camerons Products, is your best smoking products resource. Place these fists sized wood chunks on hot coals to get maximum wood flavor infused into your BBQ foods. These wood chunks need to be soaked for about 20 minutes before placing on the charcoal in your BBQ. This package includes a 5-Pound bag of apple wood chunks. Apple wood is a more complex flavor than alder wood, yet it is still quite mild. This wood is excellent when smoking pork, fish and poultry.

Great product

Great quality pieces of wood for smoking meat. I use a hatchet on some of the larger pieces to get the size I want, as there is a little bit of variance in the sizes of the wood chunks. That is perfect for me, as I use the larger chunks when smoking, and the smaller pieces while grilling. I'll be ordering these again the next time I need wood.

The Pecan smoke itself is great as well. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and it is quickly moving up my list of favorite woods to use. Many consider it interchangeable with Hickory wood chips, but I'd say it is just slightly more mild. Very good flavor overall, and would work well with chicken, beef, fish, and probably cheese. I prefer apple wood when smoking pork, but I'd guess it would work for that as well. Heck...there aren't any rules, so try it on everything!
Just what you would expect

Used these during a long smoker session. These are definitely large sized chunks that you may need to split up slightly if you're looking for smaller pieces.

Product shipped and delivered promptly. I was wondering if this size would last long in my electric smoker.
I was surprised that I only needed a couple of chunks in the bottom of the smoker to last for hours.
Way better than chips!

For long slow smoke, get theses chunks! One piece smokes for over 2 hours. This is just great chunk.
Good when you can't find it locally

I have used both the apple and pecan with good results. The chunks are a good size, I have liked both products. I would buy it again
It's a Bag of Dead Tree Chunks. . . .

SO..... I would not normally be so nit-picky, however for $15 I expected some uniformity to the size of chunks. The size of each piece ranges from actual wood chips (and bark) to roughly 3" x 4". If you are serious about smoking meats, you know that small scraps are a nuisance. One can always grab a hatchet to make the pieces smaller, but you can't nail the little pieces together. About 1/5th of the bag is too small to use without a headache. That said, it's well-seasoned.
We'll let you know come spring

Amazon asked me to review this item, but it was a Christmas present and the recipient lives in the frozen north - not to say they won't be cranking up the Bar-B at the first sign of above-40 temps. ... Looks like wood, smells like wood...
