Product Description

Turn a portable gas grill into a standard barbecue that goes the distance with this convenient adapter hose. Perfect for grilling on the go, portables aren’t always the best way to go for all-night entertaining. They run on small propane cylinders that can be difficult to dispose of and last no more than a couple of hours. However, thanks to Weber you can have your portability and endurance too. Weber’s handy adaptor hose allows you to connect with standard 20-pound tanks of propane for extended cooking times and easy refilling. --Mary Park

I'm very pleased that I purchased the 20 lbs tank adapter hose for my Weber Q grill. The Q is our primary grill. We've always used portable grills in this way, but we love the Q so well, we use it much more than other portables we've owned. Also, the Q takes the smaller 14.1 ounce propane tank normally used for torches rather than the 16 ounce camping tanks. It really didn't make practical and economic sense to keep using the small tanks on a grill with the Q's capacity. But still I purchased this item with some trepidation. I'd read AMAZON reviews reporting that squirrels will eat through the grease splattered hose. My property is in an Oak & Hickory grove, so I have squirrels in over abundance. These guys have been known to augment their diets with my garden plants, but gnawing greasy hose sounds much more like mouse & rat behavior. I took a chance. So far no trouble. I'm using a home- built grill table with a 2 X 3 granite top and a generic grill- to- floor length vinyl grill cover. (The weber Q cover only encloses the top of the grill) These might be a factors. A little Capsaicin , (the element in peppers that makes them hot, fond in products like "Squirrel Away"), might help the folks with gnawing issues. The 4" hose is quite long enough to reach from the grill port, under the table to my tank with ease and installation is very simple. I bought the adapter and my very first 20 lbs propane tank the same day and I was grilling that evening. I do agree that it would only improve the adapter if the hose were enclosed in say, metal mesh. But that would undoubtedly increase the price. I think at the current price point the 20 pound hose adapter is a great addition that grants me more use and enjoyment of a great grill. I still think it was worth the risk of rodent interference to get this adapter compared to the cost of 14.1 ounce propane tanks over time. But I admit to hedging my bet, If the hose gets oily, I'm keeping a shaker of cayenne pepper handy to sprinkle on it just in case.....

Works great. Be sure to wait the prescribed time (~ 1 minute) after opening the valves - otherwise the supply is reduced to pilot lite strength. I speak from experience. Duh.
Convert from 14oz to 20lb tank with me!!

I hate buying those un-refillable tanks----this will let you use the 20lb with the Weber Q, Baby Q or Gas GO anywhere
Works great, but it's true about the damn squirrels

I bought this hose because I, like everyone who bought it, got tired of replacing the 14.1 oz. propane cylinders. One night while grilling, my last one ran out of gas before I was done cooking, and that settled it.
I picked this up and a Blue Rhino tank, and it worked beautifully. I felt great that I no longer had to worry about running out of gas.
I even kept a small cylinder as back up. I thought my plan was brilliant.
Until the squirrels came.

The next time I fired up the grill, I smelled propane in the air, and worried their was a leak I had not noticed. After inspecting the tank, I heard the gas coming from the hose, and discovered two new holes in it that appeared to be gnawed upon. I was pissed off.
The next day, I went to Home Depot and bought another hose, but this time, I didn't allow it to hang. I wrapped it around the tank, and covered the grill with the largest grill-cover that Weber makes for the Q.
The grill cover looks beautiful, but it does not deter the furry-tailed little demonic eating machines.
Last night, I came home, and prepared to fire up some ribs on the grill while my brother and I had a few beers, but lo and behold, another damn leak!
This time, I caught the little jerk in the act! I saw the squirrel leap away from the grill, look me in the eye, and by God, I could have sworn he smiled at me! I'm sure it was in my imagination, but it appeared the squirrel took some sort of morbid pleasure in ruining my BBQ.
He was mistaken though, for how could he have known that I had a back-up cylinder in my pantry? He didn't, and thankfully, I continued my BBQ in spite of the little jerk.
I however, am out $50 bones for TWO adapter hoses, that while work excellent (which is why I still rate it 5 stars), but are like crack for squirrels.
Get this, if somehow you can protect it from these furry little hose-eaters.
works with small tank

I have the baby Q, and bought a small one gallon, number 5 tank. I had the tank purged and filled for 3$. i wanted a small tank, why have a portable grill if the tank is so heavy. My mom can even lift a one gallon.
Hooked this cable up, I don't know why someone thought it tedious to wait one minute before turning on the Q. Thats just the way it is.
What are people grilling that spatters 6 feet?
So its was a good buy. AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A 20 LB TANK to enjoy your Baby Q.

This hose is invaluable as it connects to a 20lb Propane tank and probably will last throughout the grilling season. This is my 2nd hose as the first one was chewed thru by chipmonks after one use. I have purchased 2-2 foot stainless steel spring hose protectors and hope they will be able to stop those little critters from gnawing.
Saved me a lot of mooola!!!

This hose has saved me a lot of dough. I was using the portable blue tanks and they would only last me for about 2 short bbq's. I purchased this with a 20lb tank and it has been 3 months since refilling. Hose is pretty well built. Depending on your location chipmunks might be a problem. This is a must if you want to same money.
