I bought this Hibachi about 2.5 months ago.
here is what I found.
A Hibachi is for SMALL jobs.Kabobs, steak chunks,a chicken breast,
1 hamburger per side.
as it doesn't have sides or a top to trap the heat in, what you cook must be small enough to cook fast,as to save the heat.
I have tried a porterhouse and it was just too large.
dont get me wrong, it got cooked well enough( nice med rare )but was too cool on the sides.
This is a great grill, for the right things.
small cuts of meat.
and thats what it dies best. |
Cooks well enough; assembly was a bear!

Received grill in less than a week; very satisfied! But, when we tried to put it together, we found the holes to mount the brackets that hold the cooking grids were misdrilled. The cooking grids stuck up in the air, probably 2-3" higher in the front than the back; very uncool, 'cause I didn't think a hot dog would stay on there! SO, hubby had to redrill the holes so he could mount the brackets in the correct position to cook. And that was NOT an easy task, considering you are drilling through cast iron! But, he was able to make it work, and it cooks very well now.
I would have complained to the company, but we were hungry and wanted to grill that day! Just beware of this problem, as it might happen again. |
Not great

This is definitely not great quality like to grills that were sold during the early 80's. Lighter cast, grills do not fit well into holders and is too shallow to hold heat properly.
Not what I was expecting. |
terrible

| the hibachi left side support bracket snapped off last night. imagine, a cast iron bracket snapping in two with no pressure on it. I was fortunate not to have a hot item on it at the time or I may have suffered serious burn injuries. |
