Big Green Egg Accessories

Enhance your grilling experience with Big Green Egg Accessories


Big Green Egg Tables


The Big Green Egg is available in two different models of tables, Long and Compact, with EGG openings for all sizes but the Mini. Our tables are made from Cypress which is a beautiful, straight-grained wood, excellent for outdoor uses. It contains cypressene, a naturally occurring preservative that protects the tree from decay and insects. Cypress, a member of the Sequoia Redwood family, is a slow growing tree with wood that is very durable and stable. This wood comes from responsibly managed forests.

Long Tables

The Big Green Egg is available with Long Cypress tables for the Medium, Large and XL EGGs. They are available with or without casters. The dimensions for the Long table are 59.5 inches x 24.5 inches and it is 32 inches tall. This size provides ample working and serving room right next to your EGG.

Natural Lump Charcoal


The EGG® will cook most efficiently using natural lump charcoal. Big Green Egg lump charcoal is made from a variety of 100% hardwoods. It burns hotter and cleaner and lights faster and easier than briquettes. The amount of ash produced is a fraction of what briquettes produce, which means less frequent ash removal is required. Use either our electric lighter or our natural fire starters and you'll be ready to cook in about 10 minutes; never use lighter fluid.

Wood Smoking Chips


Wood smoking chips will add a variety of flavors to add extra taste to foods cooked over the coals. Each type of wood will impart a different taste to every meat or other food with which it is used, resulting in an endless variety of new taste combinations. The Big Green Egg is available with the following smoking chips available in 1-1/2 to 2-pound bags. Hickory and Mesquite chunks are available in 6-pound bags.

Fire Starters


Our Fire Starters are made from sawdust and paraffin and are very efficient for quickly and easily lighting lump charcoal without giving off a chemical taste. A box contains 24 cubes. The Electric Starter, if you prefer that style of lighting, will light the charcoal in about eight minutes.

EGGcelerator


The EGGcelerator fans the lump charcoal at initial lighting for faster start-up times, especially in high altitude situations. The unit easily attaches onto the draft door of the XLarge, Large or Medium EGGs. Once the EGG® has obtained the desired cooking temperature, the unit is switched off and removed. The EGGcelerator requires 8 AA Batteries (not included), an optional power adapter will be available soon.

Grilling Planks


Plank cooking is an ancient culinary method which originated with the American Indians. The longstanding tradition of cooking on a plank has evolved into a well-used at-home grilling technique that adds a whole new dimension to your grilling experience. Foods roast in their own juices, keeping meats, seafood and vegetables moist and infusing them with magnificent tastes as they absorb the aromatic wood smoke. The planks must be soaked in water for at least an hour before placing them on the cooking grid. This ensures they will smolder, which produces the best smoke taste, and it keeps them from burning up quickly during cooking.

Plate Setters


The Plate Setter is used for indirect cooking on the Big Green Egg. It is a ceramic heat shield that functions by providing a barrier between the food and the fire. The design of the Plate Setter (a flat ceramic disc with three "legs") allows sufficient airflow around the surface while preventing the flames and direct heat of the fire from reaching the food. Nothing will contribute greater versatility to your outdoor cooking than adding a Plate Setter to your accessories collection.

The Plate Setter can be used several different ways, with the legs facing up or down. With the legs facing down, the legs rest directly on the Fire Ring and the Plate Setter provides a cooking surface at the lip level of the bottom half of the Big Green Egg. In this position you place a baking stone on top of the Plate Setter and, in effect, turn the Big Green Egg into a brick oven. This set-up is great for pizza, bread, pie or any other dish that you would bake. Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite on the Big Green Egg.

The Plate Setter can also be placed on the Fire Ring with the legs facing up. In this position, simply place the cooking grid on the three ceramic legs and turn your Big Green Egg into a convection oven. You can place a roast directly on the cooking grid or in a V-Rack. Clean up is easy because the ceramic Plate Setter is self cleaning from the heat inside the EGG®, but you can also set a Drip Pan directly on the Plate Setter.

In the legs up position, you can add one of several Grill Extenders to the cooking grid; you now have multiple levels of cooking. With the convection effect of the Plate Setter, all levels of meat will cook evenly without turning.

If you are cooking an oversized turkey on a Vertical Turkey Roaster, take out the Fire Ring and place the Plate Setter on the Fire Box with the legs up. This lowers the cooking surface to give you much more room for an extra large turkey.

Whether you are baking or roasting, the Plate Setter is a great EGGcessory and it should be one of the first supplementary purchases you make!

The Plate Setter for the XL is slightly different than the others. The XL Plate Setter has shorter legs to better fit the dome of the XL EGG. It can be used in the standard configuration or it can be inserted between the Fire Box and the Fire Ring to provide for more air flow if desired.

Baking Stones


The Big Green Egg is available with Baking Stones available for the XL, Large and Medium EGGs. These stones are great for pizzas, breads, cookies, and help to turn your Big Green Egg into a fire brick oven.

Ash Tool


An Ash Tool is used to remove the ash that collects at the bottom of the EGG. Using the bar at the end of the Ash Tool, you simply pull the ash out of the Stainless Steel Draft Door into a fireproof receptacle that can be easily emptied.

EGG Ash Pan


Although the natural lump charcoal used to fuel the EGG produces little ash and requires minimal clean-up to begin with, the task becomes even easier with the new EGG Ash Pan. The wide-mouthed, metal Ash Pan can be hooked onto the vent door directly against the base of the grill. Ashes are then scraped into the practical tool just as you would with a dust pan. The pan slides out easily, allowing you to dispose of ashes with greater convenience and no mess. The EGG Ash Pan fits the XLarge, Large or Medium EGGs.

Temperature Gauge


An external Temperature Gauge is installed on the lid of the Big Green Egg. It measures the temperature inside the EGG to allow you to achieve the exact temperature you want, from below 250°F for smoking to over 750°F for searing. This Gauge shows the temperature in both Farenheit and Celsius.

Instant Read Thermometer


This thermometer is inserted into food for a quick reading of the internal temperature of food, then removed immediately. A glass bezel and red dial provide for easy temperature reading.

Instant Read Digital Thermometer


The Instant Read Digital Thermometer gives you a quick digital readout of the internal temperature of foods. This thermometer should be removed immediately after reading it.

Digital Probe Thermometer


This premium unit allows you to insert the probe into the food and extend the wire out between the base and the lid of the EGG to monitor the temperature from the outside with a digital readout. You have the ability to set low and high temperature alarms and it has a built-in timer.

Drip Pans


The Drip Pans feature an easy to clean, non-stick surface and have the Big Green Egg logo embossed in the bottom of the pan. The 13-inch x 9-inch Rectangular Drip Pan works perfectly with the V-Rack for cooking turkey, roasts, chickens and other larger cuts of meat. The 9-inch Round Drip Pan is just right under either the Vertical Chicken Roaster or the Vertical Turkey Roaster.

Dutch Oven


The cast iron Dutch Oven is ideal for cooking stews, soups and chili or even applesauce in the Big Green Egg. You can also boil, simmer and even bake cobblers in it. It holds 5 quarts and has a bail handle.

Porcelain Coated Cooking Grids


If you're using the Large or XL EGG® to cook fish or small foods like mushrooms, shrimp or scallops that might fall through the regular cooking grid, use the 16-inch x 12-inch cooking grid or the 16-inch round cooking grid to enjoy all the benefits of the EGG without being concerned about food falling into the coals. The grids are made of porcelain coated steel and have perforations to ensure the heat and taste reach the food.

Wok Topper


The 12-inch square Wok Topper fits the XL and Large EGGs and makes it easy to cook cut-up or julienne vegetables, meat or seafood stir frys, chicken tenders or any other smaller pieces of food that might slip through the regular cooking grid. It is made from porcelain coated steel and has perforations to ensure the food will absorb the same wonderful taste it would on the regular cooking grid.

Dual Function Metal Top


Although a ceramic top is included with the Big Green Egg, many cooks prefer to use the Dual Function Metal Top which has two controls to allow for precise temperature setting. There is a larger slide for broad temperature changes and a smaller daisy wheel for finer adjustments. Using the Dual Function Metal Top in conjunction with the Stainless Steel Draft Door you can easily maintain very accurate temperatures in the EGG®.

Spring-Assisted Band


Opening and closing the EGG is easy with the use of the Spring-Assisted Band. The lid can be held open with one hand without having to use any type of locking mechanism. Comes with all sizes except Mini.

Replacement Felt Gasket Kits


Replacement felt gasket kits are available for all of the EGGs. They come with easy to follow directions and enough self-adhesive gasket material to cover the rim of both the Lid and the Base. The gasket material will melt at 1100°F so be sure and pay attention during high-temperature cooking.

Fire Grate


The Cast Iron Fire Grate holds the lump charcoal at the bottom of the Fire Box.

Fire Box


The Fire Box sits at the bottom of the EGG and holds the Fire Grate. The Fire Ring sits on top of the Fire Box. You should fill the Lump Charcoal up to the top of the Fire Box for most cooking occasions.

Fire Ring


The Fire Ring sits on top of the Fire Box and the Cooking Grid rests on top of it. The optional 2-inch ceramic Fire Ring can be used as an accessory for different set ups in the EGG and is used as the base for the 3-Tier Cooking System.

Stainless Steel Draft Doors


Current Stainless Steel Draft Doors have three parts and include a mesh screen for extra safety. If you have a Stainless Steel Draft Door without a screen, Mesh Screens are available as an add-on accessory.

Porcelain Coated Grid


The Porcelain Coated Cooking Grid rests on the Fire Ring and is used as the primary cooking surface.

Big Green Egg Grid Cleaner


With a total length of 23 inches and a comfortable red oak handle, it allows you to clean the grid even when it is hot. The angled design makes cleaning the top and sides of the cooking grid a breeze. The grid then quickly wipes clean with a cloth or paper towel.

Porcelain Grid Cleaner


This dual-spiral metal cleaner easily and effectively cleans a Porcelain Grid without scratching or chipping it.

Flexible Skewers


A set of two flexible skewers have a stay-cool handle that hangs outside the grill. When marinating, the skewers fit in a bowl or bag so all of your food is covered.


Pigtail Meat Flipper


Meat turned with a flip. The length of the Pigtail allows for turning meat without getting too close to the flame, even when cooking at extremely high temperatures. Steaks, chicken and pork tenderloin can be turned on the grill with ease.

Platter


The Big Green Egg logo on this 18-inch china serving platter makes it a fun conversation piece for EGG® enthusiasts and their guests.


Seasonings & Sauces


The Big Green Egg is available with four unique tastes of rubs and seasonings to cover all your needs. Our custom Big Green Egg Private Label Blend is a versatile all around seasoning. Sweet Maple, Green Garlic & Pepper, and Green Pecan round out the collection. Try each of them.

Cotton Mitt


The Big Green Egg Cotton Mitt provides stylish protection when handling hot items around your EGG.

Sure Grip Oven Mitt

Neoprene provides for effective heat insulation up to 500° F and has good gripping qualities. This neoprene glove is a don't-want-to-be-without EGGcessory that will provide protection time and time again.

Books

The new and improved Instruction Manual that comes with your EGG® will also have the green Warranty Card which you should fill out and return to the Company. This book provides general instructions for the EGG and contains a collection of tried and true "Getting Started" recipes.

The EGGtoberfest Cookbook provides a collection of recipes, some more complex, that are generously shared by the many EGGheads who cook their favorites for everyone to taste at the Annual Atlanta EGGtoberfest.

CD/DVD

The CD/DVD that comes with all new EGGs is a DVD on one side and an interactive CDROM on the other side. It is designed to tell you virtually anything you need to know about the EGG, from unpacking and assembly to lighting the charcoal, learning how to control temperatures, suggestions for smoking foods, and use of the various EGGcessories. Highly regarded chef Kevin Rathbun, who owns several topnotch restaurants in Atlanta, also demonstrates a number of easy recipes to familiarize EGG owners with the various cooking techniques that can be employed when cooking in the EGG.

This CD/DVD can be played in a regular DVD player or using your computer's CDROM drive. The advantage of the CDROM version is that you can also print recipes or instructions you wish to use.

We also offer an EGGtoberfest DVD that gives you a peek at the fun and camaraderie shared by those attending our festive annual celebration. You'll see the variety of foods cooked at the event on hundreds of EGGs and you'll hear interviews with many of our enthusiastic Big Green Egg owners.
