BBQ Chicken Rub
Make your smoked and grilled chicken taste great
with this classic BBQ chicken rub
This
BBQ chicken rub is one of those full-flavoured varieties that begs to
be made time and time again. Use sparingly for a mild flavour, or add
more to give a strong, concentrated taste to your chicken.
The
garlic salt, paprika and cayenne give a nice spicy kick that does not
overpower the taste of the chicken, or other ingredients in the rub.
This recipe has been regarded by many people who have tried it as being
well-balanced, though of course we all like to adjust to our own
personal tastes.
For the best tasting BBQ chicken, add this rub
to the chicken around 30 minutes prior to cooking to allow it to start
permeating the skin and add flavour.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup cane sugar 1 tsp seasoning salt 2 tbls onion salt 1 tbls garlic salt 2 tbls paprika 1 1/2 tsp chilli powder 1 tbls dried sage 1/4 tsp dried basil 1/4 tsp dried crushed rosemary 1/3 tsp cayenne pepper
This
BBQ Chicken rub makes around 10 tablespoons of rub which should be
ample for 2 medium sized chickens. You can scale down this recipe
accordingly.
Remember that any leftover BBQ chicken rub can be
easily stored in an airtight container for use later on. Store the rub
in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
When making this
BBQ chicken rub, you may want to make a little more than the recipe
suggests as it is a favourite with many BBQ lovers.
